Frankfurter Orgeltage

The annual “Frankfurt Organ Days” have been held in Frankfurt’s “Church of the Holy Spirit” on Börneplatz since the seventies. The programme usually foresees organ concerts on each Sunday evening for nine to 10 weeks featuring national and international soloists. Although specific themes are not generally defined for the series, thus allowing international soloists to give an individual presentation of the organ music of their home country, certain years are devoted to the entire organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Max Reger, Charles Marie Widor, César Franck or Franz Liszt. The former purely baroque-oriented Walcker organ of the outstandingly acoustic “Church of the Holy Spirit” has in recent years undergone several technical and musical reconstructions and extensions, so that now the entire organ literature, including the major romantic works, can be adequately interpreted.
