The biennial Frankfurter Lyriktage (Frankfurt Poetry Days) offer an overview of current tendencies in contemporary poetry. The lyric poetry of these years is one of the lucky breaks of German-language literature. It testifies to an art at the height of the times that teaches us to see the world anew in just a few verses. Poems draw from an infinite reservoir of images, rhythms and sounds - and yet they are more than virtuoso language games. They explore our reality intensively and extensively: that of people, but also that of things, animals, plants and landscapes. More than ever, poems follow the traces of time and spare neither irritations nor displacements to create a magic of the second order.
