Historical Monument Department

The “Historical Monument Department” Frankfurt has the assignment of issuing preservation orders for protection-worthy objects of cultural and regional significance, managing and caring for them and by pertinent information acquainting the public with their historical relevance. Preserved buildings throughout Frankfurt bear variously coloured explanation panels. Furthermore with the series “Notes on Monument Preservation” the Denkmalamt publishes richly illustrated information pamphlets on topics such as industry & technology, gardens & parks, secular & ecclesiastical buildings, excavations-findings and monument protection.
