From classical music, children's concerts and cabaret, via readings and literary talks to jazz festivals, carnival parties and television broadcasts - the hr transmission auditorium and foyer offer room for the most diverse functions.
The appeal of the hr transmission auditorium, panelled in light natural timber and equipped with a hydraulic stage, lies not only in its outstanding acoustics but above all in its multi-functionalism. It is a concert hall seating 840 persons and a modern sound studio in one. Since foundation stone laying in 1953 and comprehensive refurbishment in 1988, the premises have become established as a firm concert venue in Frankfurt. Around 50 public functions, organized by the hr or guest promoters, are held annually in the hr transmission auditorium. The lobby area is not only a particular highlight for architecture lovers: the "Gold Hall" was formerly designed as foyer for the German Parliament and now, as architectural document of the late forties, stands under monument protection.
