Heiner Goebbels has been living in Frankfurt am Main since 1972. He is one of the most important proponents of contemporary music and theatre. His compositions for musical ensembles, from chamber music ensembles to full orchestras, musical theatre, scenic concerts, and audio plays are performed worldwide. He is a professor at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies of the Justus Liebig University in Giessen (Germany) and, since 2006, President of the Hessische Theaterakademie. In 2012, 2013, and 2014, he was the artistic director of the International Festival of the Arts RUHRTRIENNALE. Heiner Goebbels has received numerous awards for his compositions and music theatre works, the most recent one being the International Ibsen Award in 2012.
