Junge Deutsche Philharmonie e.V.

The Junge Deutsche Philharmonie remains one of the most interesting and sought after ensembles in Germany. The orchestra makes regular guest appearances at the principal concert halls in Germany – for example the Berliner Philharmonie, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, and Hamburg’s Laiszhalle – and works with wellknown conductors, soloists and composers such as Pierre Boulez, Iván Fischer, Andrey Boreyko, Markus Stenz, Hans Zender, Wolfgang Rihm, Christian Tetzlaff, Jörg Widmann, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Tabea Zimmermann, Janine Jansen, and Olli Mustonen. The orchestra draws its members from among the top students at conservatories in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. They are chosen by means of a demanding audition.

The Junge Deutsche Philharmonie stands for more than outstanding musical performance. Excellent technical performance skills form the foundation upon which this talented group of musicians builds on its strengths by actively seeking challenges, both musical and non-musical. The members imbue each project with new ideas; they are filled with bold idealism.
Trendsetting programming, outreach programmes and new performance modalities play an important role in the orchestra’s planning, but close cooperation with conservatories and professional orchestras are equally central to its work. The Junge Deutsche Philharmonie prepares young musicians to meet the challenges that await them in their professional lives, putting them in the best position to realise their dreams.
