The Kunstverein – normally a space devoted to sophisticated contemporary art – has for the duration of the Frankfurt Book Fair 2009 for the first time turned over a new leaf and presented the latest from the autumn book market. During five days, the numerous visitors were able to enjoy non-fiction, literary debuts, biographies, novels and poetry as well as lyrics set to music live at this venue.

The publishers came up with the concepts for the events, the Kunstverein provided the premises, and we were responsible for the overall project coordination. The programme of OPEN BOOKS reflected the multifaceted nature of the book market. An offer extended by the City of Frankfurt to the publishing houses and also to all Frankfurters who wish to be part of the biggest book fair worldwide.

At the Kunstverein café you could have breakfast with authors and meet up outside the bustle of the fair, the large book table of the “Die Wendeltreppe” bookshop was perfect for browsing and all over the building readings, talks, book presentations and discussions, concerts and parties were taking place.

Since 2009 we will roll out the red carpet every year during the Frankfurt Book Fair for OPEN BOOKS.
