As Faculty 20 the Kassel Art College is part of the Kassel Polytechnic. It provides courses of study in product design and visual communication, each of which are divided into various sections of instruction.
The course product design comprises the fields industrial design, furniture design, system design and textile design. Visual communication provides instruction in the fields film and television, illustration, graphic design, trick film, new media, basis class, experimental photography, photography, freehand graphics, new and established media. Fundamental principle of the teaching concept is the idea of the individual competence profile. This means that each student can build on her/his individual level of interests. The knowledge and the scientific-artistic education that students receive ultimately shape their personal competence profile. The open structure of study takes into account this concept.
