“Lucas” – International Children and Teenager Film Festival

In 1975, the Deutsche Filmmuseum and the “Children and Teenager Film Centre Germany” founded the International Children’s Film Week. The resulting Children and Teenager Film Festival “Lucas” quickly became a renowned and popular international competition.

“Lucas” is seen as a forum for children and teenager film productions. At the same time it offers young cinemagoers an exciting and instructive programme, which is meant to sharpen awareness for sophisticated cinema culture beyond Hollywood.

Usually more than one hundred films from throughout the world are submitted. In two-year rhythm an international selection committee chooses between twelve and fifteen films for the competition. In addition to an international expert jury, there is also a children and adult jury, a teenager jury and a public prize awarded by the young audience.
