Tanzlabor_21 / A Tanzplan Deutschland Project is dedicated to professional dance education and unites all dance-relevant institutions in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main area. Tanzlabor_21 seeks to intensify the interaction between dance theory and dance practice.

- continues the tradition of artistic experimentation in dance in Frankfurt/Main
- connects the dance related institutions in the region
- extends and deepens existing networks
- combines theory and practice
- integrates dance studies, dance education and general awareness for dance
- implements theoretical education in close proximity to artistic practice,
thereby creating new forms of dance education
- is designed as a long-term project to construct sustainable structures
- is flexible enough to accommodate development and stable enough to ensure
secure planning conditions for education and research programs

Tanzlabor_21 / A Tanzplan Deutschland Project, is a joint project conceived and developed by Künstlerhaus Mousonturm, the Frankfurt University for Music and Performing Arts and the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies at Justus Liebig University of Giessen. Until 2010, the project will receive 1,15 million euros in funding from Tanzplan Deutschland - an initiative of the Federal Cultural Foundation. It will receive an additional amount of 500,000 euros over the course of five years from the Department for Culture and Science of the City of Frankfurt/Main, as well as 650,000 euros from Hessen Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts. Currently, the project is planned for a period of five years.
