The Romanfabrik was founded in 1985 on an initiative of writers as a meeting place for literati. Domiciled on the Union quarter in Hanauer Landstrasse since 1995, it has developed into a much-frequented culture location in Frankfurt. Literary readings remain the focal point of its programme, but Romanfabrik has also made a name for itself as venue for jazz concerts, chanson, tango and salsa evenings, classic in Romanfabrik (KiR) and the Philosophical café.
