Institute for Media Education and Communication (MuK)/State Film Bureau - Film Library

The MUK emerged from the State Film Bureau Hessen for Youth and Adult Further Education, which was founded in 1954. Whereas initial activities focussed on making media usable for school and extra curricular education work, today's work centres on media pedagogics and education.

Goal of the MUK is to communicate to young people (and adults too) far-reaching media competence for the active use of old and new communication technologies. The Institute counsels in all questions of media pedagogics and offers both educational seminars and conferences for young persons and parents, for example in media theory and media practice, as well as further training courses for adults. Upon request there are also opportunities for organizing individual, target group-oriented events.

The (widely free of charge) lending service of the around 4500 titles in the Institute's film library covers in addition to feature films such specialist fields as politics/sociology, history, leisure, travel, economy, science/technology, nature/environment and medicine/health. The total catalogue of available titles is also available as disk. Computer printouts on individual themes are supplied free of charge.

The media - as well as technical equipment (16mm/video projectors, screens, recorders etc.) - can be ordered in the film library and also reserved for extended periods.
