The German Flute Society brings together flute players of all competence
levels, amateurs and professionals, teachers and musicians in orchestras
and students. It provides a forum for mutual exchange by the issue of the
quarterly "Flöte aktuell" and events, such as the Flute Festival. The DGfF was
founded on 3 July 1985 in Frankfurt am Main. President is Andras Adorjan.
Today the DGfF represents the interests of more than 2,000 members (2/3 thereof are women), since 1986 it has published more than 70 issues of "Flöte aktuell", staged major multi-day flute festivals in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Berlin, and conducted numerous courses and seminars. Not only has the DGfF gained its position within flute societies throughout the world - with its membership it is the largest flute organization in Europe - it is also one of Germany's largest associations representing an individual instrument/instrument group.
