Lichter Filmtage Frankfurt Rhine Main

The „Lichter“ festival seeks to provide a forum for the vibrant film scene in the Rhine Main area. Here, an already existing and successfully practicing community of filmmakers is to be taken out of the relative obscurity of their Hessian homeland and put into the limelight.

With very little time to prepare a team of highly committed volunteers set up a new regional festival in March 2008. 1.100 moviegoers and a total of around 4.000 visitors to the different festival events testified to its great popularity. Away from the famous and established film culture locations, the “Filmtage” managed to attract a mixed crowd and inspired them to discuss films and regional cinema.

„Lichter“ hosts a competition in the categories of feature length film and short film. Films that were produced in the past two years can be entered. The awards are given out by an independent jury.

Additional film series featuring co-productions and films from partner festivals round off the film programme. Furthermore, at the 2009 film festival the discussions on film culture and cinema were given more room. Already at the premiere around two thirds of the filmmakers and producers present took up the offer of discussing their works with the audience. From 2009 onwards lectures and talks will complement the programme.

2010 all movies were shown at the Frankfurter Turmpalast; the festival HQ was located on the first floor (Große Eschenheimer Strasse 20, 60313 Frankfurt).
