Frankfurter Kunstverein

Founded in 1829, the Frankfurter Kunstverein is one of Germany's oldest municipal art associations. Even in the 19th century it saw its mission in seeking for models that re-define modern art and its relationship to the public. A goal which still today shapes the concept of this civil institution.

The Frankfurter Kunstverein (Municipal Art Associations) is an institution supported by its members. Its main objective is to present exhibitions anchored in the present and primarily focussed on new artistic works and projects. A further goal is to promote the critical debate on contemporary art. Therefore a central role is played by the organization of regular artist discussions and readings that provide access to art and its objectives.

The Frankfurter Kunstverein has an important social function: it wants to awake inquisitiveness for the future and confidence for the production of contemporary art.
